This is a MASSIVE, MAKE-OR-BREAK CATASTROPHE for every single founder! You can literally spend entire YEARS of your life grinding, pulling all-nighters, and building the coolest product on planet Earth. But if you walk into a cold room with a tough VC investor, choke up, and stumble for just ten seconds? BOOM! YOUR ENTIRE STARTUP DIES ON THE SPOT! 💀 Everything you worked for gets thrown straight into the trash! It is the most brutal, high-stakes, terrifying minute of your life!

And how do people try to practice for this massive test right now? They talk to their bedroom mirror, which does ZERO to prepare you for actual grilling! Or they practice with their friends who just smile, nod, and tell them "Great job!" even when the pitch was a total disaster! That is a MASSIVE trap! Real VCs do not smile and nod, they grill you on profit margins, question your sanity, and rip your business plan into tiny pieces!

We saw this huge problem and realized founders were stepping into boardrooms totally unprepared for the fire. That is why we built Pitchr!

What it does

Pitchr turns scary, high-pressure pitch training into an action-packed, voice-driven game!

Here is how Pitchr transforms how founders get ready:

  • Insane Investor Battles: You step into an arena and go head-to-head with different AI investors! You can test your skills against Lord Vane who cares only about crazy high returns, or Sensei Sterling who tests your core strategy!

  • Real-Time Health Bars: It plays like an actual video game! Every strong, smart answer you give hits the investor's skepticism bar! But if you stammer, pause too long, or give a weak answer, YOUR OWN HEALTH BAR DROPS! 🩸 You have to win the battle to get funded!

  • 100% Voice-First: You do not type a single word! You talk out loud using your real voice, and the AI investors talk right back to you in real time!

  • Live Pitch Coach Tips: If you get stuck mid-pitch, you can turn on Help Mode! A side panel pops up with live tips on how to structure your answers using winning formulas like STAR or PREP!

  • Epic Post-Game Breakdown: When the battle ends, you get a full breakdown of your tone, clarity, and answers so you know exactly how to crush it in real life!

How we built it

We built Pitchr from scratch using a fast, modern tech stack so the gameplay is lightning quick!

  • The Frontend: We used React, TypeScript, and Vite so everything loads in a split second! We styled the whole app using Tailwind CSS with smooth glass cards, glowing accents, and warm colors so it feels amazing to play!

  • The Voice Engine: We used browser voice tools and real-time audio code so the computer catches your voice instantly! We tuned speech rates r∈[0.92,0.95] and added tiny pauses so the AI investors sound clear, dramatic, and super realistic!

  • Game Logic: We wrote custom code using React hooks (useBattleArena and useArenaHealth) to manage health bars, damage math, combo streaks, and turn-taking live on the screen!

  • The Smart Coach: We hooked up a real-time system that listens to your voice, analyzes your answer, and instantly pops helpful coaching tips onto your screen!

Challenges we ran into

Building Pitchr was a wild ride because we hit some crazy technical bugs!

  • The Audio Loop: At first, the app had a huge bug where the AI investor's voice played through the computer speakers and the mic picked it right back up! The AI kept listening to ITSELF in a crazy endless loop! We fixed this by building a strict turn lock that automatically shuts off the mic the exact millisecond the AI starts talking!

  • Missing Audio Assets: When switching investor previews, sound paths broke and kept throwing 404 errors! We had to build smart fallback code and clean up all our static files so every investor audio loads super smoothly!

  • Robotic Voice Quality: The standard browser voice sounded flat and boring at first! We built a text parser that forces the voice engine to pause, shift pitch, and speak with natural rhythm!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Flawless Voice Battles: We created a super smooth back-and-forth talking loop where you and the AI take turns without ever cutting each other off!

  • Awesome UI: We made the design feel super warm, alive, and interactive with glowing buttons and active listening animations!

  • Making Practice Fun: We took the absolute scariest part of business and turned it into an addictive game that builds real confidence fast!

What we learned

  • Voice UX Timing: Building a voice-first app takes super precise turn logic so the user feels heard without any awkward waiting around!

  • Design Comfort: Using warm lighting, clear visual cues, and live coaching tips keeps users excited instead of stressed out!

What's next for Pitchr

  • Upload Your Pitch Deck: We want to let founders drop in their real PDF pitch decks so AI investors can read their exact numbers and grill them on their real business!

  • Multi-Investor Chaos Mode: A crazy battle mode where THREE different investors jump in and bombard you with back-to-back questions at the exact same time!

  • Build Your Own Investor: A custom mode where you can build an investor persona modeled directly after the real-world VCs you are going to meet!
