Inspiration

Despite the rise of digital skilling platforms, there remains a critical gap in spoken communication training, especially in emerging economies. In India’s Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, countless talented individuals struggle to express their ideas with clarity and confidence. As a result, they lose out on interviews, funding opportunities, and leadership roles—not because they lack potential, but because they lack access to high-quality coaching.

We asked: What if AI could simulate real human interaction and deliver personalized, real-time feedback—instantly, affordably, and at scale? PitchPolish was born from that question.

What it does

PitchPolish is an AI-powered web platform that simulates realistic mock interviews and pitch practice using a conversational video avatar. It evaluates a user's spoken performance and delivers feedback in real time.

Key features include:

AI Interviewer Avatar: Interacts through video, listens to users, and responds with dynamic questions.

Live Speech Evaluation: Assesses clarity, fluency, pace, and tone using AI-powered transcription.

Real-Time Feedback: Provides constructive suggestions during and after the session.

Progress Report: Offers a summary of strengths, areas for improvement, and personalized learning resources.

No Installation Required: Works seamlessly on the web with zero backend infrastructure.

How we built it

We used a modular, AI-first approach optimized for fast iteration and scalability. Each tool in our stack was chosen to maximize development speed while staying within a frontend-only, serverless architecture.

Technologies used:

GPT-4: Generates dynamic, contextual questions, analyzes user responses, and offers feedback tailored to delivery, tone, and clarity.

Whisper (OpenAI): Enables fast, real-time speech-to-text transcription that fuels response accuracy.

Tavus: Powers the lifelike video avatar, enabling natural, two-way communication through expressive video prompts.

Firebase: Provides lightweight authentication and stores user session data securely.

Bolt.new: Our browser-based development environment, allowing us to build, test, and iterate the full application with no backend setup.

Netlify: Used for deployment and hosting—made it seamless to turn the app into a publicly accessible, performant web experience.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was getting all the AI systems to work smoothly together—transcription, GPT response, avatar video, and feedback had to feel fast and natural. Managing response times and creating a smooth, human-like user experience took several iterations. Another challenge was ensuring the product was lightweight and fully functional inside Bolt.new.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a fully functional, AI-powered mock interview and pitch practice tool that works entirely in the browser. Users can interact with a lifelike avatar, speak freely, receive real-time feedback on speech and delivery, and get personalized improvement suggestions. All of this was accomplished without a traditional backend or hosting infrastructure. We leveraged Bolt.new to rapidly develop and deploy the product, making it instantly accessible via the web. We are especially proud that PitchPolish addresses a real need and lowers the barrier for individuals to improve their communication skills, no matter where they are or what resources they have.

What we learned

We’re just getting started. Our next step is to improve the avatar experience by making the voice more expressive and adding support for multiple languages. We want PitchPolish to feel comfortable and familiar for users from different regions and backgrounds. We’re also working on features like progress tracking and gamification to keep users engaged over time. Deeper analytics will help users understand how they're improving and what to focus on. We're actively exploring partnerships with colleges and learning platforms to reach students who need it most. The long-term vision is to make PitchPolish a go-to tool for career readiness, accessible to anyone with an internet connection.

What's next for PitchPolish

We plan to improve the avatar system further with better voice emotion and multilingual support. We want to add progress tracking, gamification, and deep feedback analytics. We are also exploring partnerships with colleges and skilling platforms to make PitchPolish available to students who need it most. Our long-term goal is to turn PitchPolish into a full-scale product for career development.
