Inspiration

Remember that feeling of sitting in the bleachers, surrounded by fellow fans speaking different languages, yet all united by the crack of the bat? That's what drove us to create Pitcher Perfect. We saw how baseball brings people together, but noticed fans were missing out on truly personalized experiences. So we thought - what if we could use AI to make every fan feel like they're in the front row, getting updates about their favorite players and connecting with other passionate fans worldwide?

What it does

Think of Pitcher Perfect as your all-star baseball companion. Want to know when your favorite pitcher is about to take the mound? We've got you covered. Need to trash-talk with friends in Spanish or Japanese? Go for it! Our platform brings you:

  • Your own personalized baseball feed (because no two fans are alike!)
  • Chat with fellow fans in English, Spanish, or Japanese
  • Never miss a game with real-time schedules
  • Get Real-Time MLB news on our news section
  • Ask our baseball-savvy AI chatbot anything (even those obscure rules!)
  • Connect with other fans who share your passion
  • Build your dream team and see how it stacks up on pitch
  • Compare your home team stats with the away teams
  • Easy on the eyes with dark/light modes

How we built it

We assembled an all-star lineup of tech tools:

  • A slick, responsive frontend that feels as smooth as a perfect slide
  • Flask powering our backend like a well-oiled pitching machine
  • Google's Gemini 2.0 AI bringing the baseball brains
  • MLB stats Api Helping us get all information on teams and players
  • Tailwind CSS making everything look major league ready

Challenges we ran into

Like any great game, we faced our share of curveballs:

  • Keeping everything lightning-fast while handling real-time updates
  • Making our AI as knowledgeable about baseball as a veteran commentator
  • Getting baseball terms right in multiple languages (try saying "pickoff move" in Japanese!)
  • Making sure fans on any device get the perfect view
