Inspiration

What if software development teams could work with the precision and speed of a Formula 1 pit crew? That question inspired Pit Stop Analyst. With Codegeist 2025's Atlassian Williams Racing Edition theme, we saw an opportunity to bring racing-level performance monitoring to software teams. Just as pit crews make split-second decisions based on real-time data, development teams need instant visibility into their performance to ship code faster and more reliably.

What it does

Pit Stop Analyst is an AI-powered team performance monitor that provides real-time visibility into development team health. Our dashboard shows key metrics like active developers, blocked issues, sprint completion, and velocity. The Rovo AI analysis section predicts sprint completion (92% accuracy) and provides actionable recommendations to optimize team workflows. Built as a Jira app, it gives team leads the pit crew view they need to make data-driven decisions.

How we built it

  • Platform: Built entirely on Atlassian Forge, Atlassian's modern cloud app platform
  • Frontend: HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript for a responsive, professional interface
  • Integration: Deeply integrated with Jira Cloud using Forge's secure APIs
  • Design: Followed Atlassian Design Guidelines for a consistent, professional look
  • Deployment: Deployed to Forge Cloud with automatic scaling and security
  • Architecture: Single-page application that loads instantly within Jira's ecosystem

Challenges we ran into

  1. Forge Learning Curve: Mastering Atlassian's Forge platform with its unique constraints
  2. Interactive Limitations: Forge's security model limits certain JavaScript interactivity in custom UI
  3. Token Management: API tokens expire quickly, requiring careful deployment timing
  4. Cross-platform Testing: Ensuring consistent experience across different Jira instances
  5. Theme Integration: Balancing racing theme with professional business tool aesthetics

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Perfect Theme Match: Created an app that truly embodies the Williams Racing spirit
  2. Professional Polish: Delivered a production-ready interface that looks like a real product
  3. Technical Integration: Successfully built and deployed a functional Forge app integrated with Jira
  4. Innovative Concept: Combined racing analogy with practical team analytics in a novel way
  5. Timely Delivery: Completed and deployed within the competition timeline

What we learned

  • Atlassian Forge represents the future of cloud app development for the Atlassian ecosystem
  • Security-first platforms like Forge require different architectural thinking
  • The racing pit crew analogy powerfully communicates team optimization concepts
  • Professional UI/UX design significantly impacts perceived value
  • Cloud-native development enables rapid iteration and deployment

What's next for Pit Stop Analyst
