Inspiration
We were inspired by the mission and dedication that the volunteers at the Pisayian organization displayed, to show the Filipino community that STEM is to be valued in the Philippines. We sought to make it easier for them to stay connected.
What it does
We created a web tool that converts a .csv file in the format SPECTRA uses to one fit for the Pisayian alumni database. It also normalizes the data, created 3 relational tables.
How we built it
The front end was made in React and Next with Tailwind as a CSS framework. On the backend we have Node and Express.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into issues with the logic concerning the POST request that sends the csv file to be converted.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud to have created a tool that the Pisayian organization can utilize for their database and keep alumni well connected.
What we learned
We learned more about the tools used in developing the application, notably React, Tailwind, and Node.
What's next for Pisayian web tool submission
Further progress can be made to include summary of what was changed on the file, convert to normalized files, and/or connect to the alumni database to directly upload data to the schema.
