Inspiration

I was inspired by how brands like Sephora, Unilever and Etsy have have leveraged social media chatbots to create awareness for their products and drive meaningful conversations with customers to increase brand affinity and ultimately sales.

What it does

The Chatbot is designed and developed to allow individuals learn more about breast cancer in a conversational manner and thereby create awareness on the disease and also raise donations towards ending breast cancer. In summary, our chabot;

  1. enables users to ask any questions on breast cancer and Pinky-Bunny-Bot will answer them with linked reference to learn more on the topic on the National Breast Cancer Foundation website or CDC Website.
  2. They can share the answers with friends and families on the Facebook platform and thus spread awareness about breast cancer
  3. engages users in a way that it drives to donate towards ending breast cancer.

How we built it

Firstly, we did UX research around how to design engaging conversations using chatbot. We also researched knowledge banks on breast cancer and created a database of questions and their answers. We then designed the conversation flow and then implemented the conversations in Dialogflow and used python to handle more complex .task around responses. We then connected the chatbot to Facebook messenger platform

Challenges we ran into

We ran into challenges around finding a suitable NLP library to implement our design the way we want it to be.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of making the bot work in a short period of starting the project and wished we had more hours to continue to refine it.

What we learned

We learned conversational design, chatbot implementation,

What's next for Pinky-Bunny-Bot: Conversing To End Breast Cancer

We hope to extend the knowledge bank of the bot and improve the design in away that it engages people more drive greater awareness and donations towards ending breast cancer. Also, we look forward to integrating the chatbot to other social media platforms.
