Inspiration
Breast cancer stands as the most common malignancy afflicting women worldwide, accounting for 30% of all female cancers. 1.5 million women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and 500,000 women die from this disease in the world. While the death rate has reduced over the previous 30 years, this condition has become more prevalent. The challenge lies in the complexity of breast cancer;
What it does
the created simple to use website that aims to:
Accurately predict the benignity and malignancy of a given patient given the medical record
To flag potential cancer recurrences, empowering patients and physicians to steer towards early intervention and preventative care.
Develop a supportive online hub, offering breast cancer resources, patient networking, and guidance to empower informed decision-making and community connection.
Spreading awareness about breast cancer and help detect it at an early stage
How we built it
we trained two machine learning model, one for breast cancer prediction and the other for recurrence prediction using online patient dataset and deployed them onto the website
Challenges we ran into
Getting the correct data set that fits our needs, Improving the accuracy of the model, Integrating the model into our website
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We achieved a 97, 73 percent accuracy for the two predicting models that could be integrated into the website
What we learned
Cancer treatment its a very complicated process and recognizing that one-size-fits all approach is inadequate in addressing the unique needs of the patients
What's next for PinkPromise
We planning on getting a larger data set with more user features so we could get a more accurate prediction of the breast cancer and its recurrence pattern.
