Inspiration

$260 Billion dollars worth of products are left in online shopping carts every year. When impulse shopping online, users have two options: spend money on a product or save money by abandoning their carts. With record breaking inflation rates, more and more users are choosing the latter which is why 70% of shopping carts are abandoned.

What it does

Gives shoppers an option outside of the buy/save dichotomy that could potentially make them money. With Pinafy, users can invest the money from items they would have spent on products for a potential return.

How we built it

Pinafy was developed with the Rapyd checkout toolkit for fast processing of payments. A demonstration market was also built using Javascript, Node.Js and express.js. The Alpha Vantage stock API was also used to give data and trends for publicly traded stocks.

Challenges we ran into

I had some difficulty with the Rapyd API going down during testing. I was able to get it to work for my recording. The youtube tutorials were also great for walking me through setup and execution of API calls.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Working with the Rapyd API and producing a working prototype.

What's next for Pinafy

We'll just have to see where this hackathon takes it... fingers crossed Portugal
