Inspiration
We were inspired to make this project, because we all gets sick, and we rarely remember to take our meds on time. Life gets very busy, and we all forget. This happens very frequently, healthy young individuals, college students, working professional, got sick, and they don't remember taking their antibiotics. Studies showed 20-30% of patients forget at least 1 dose of their antibiotics, and other studies showed, missed antibiotics can lead to bacterial resistance. All of our lives are busy, and the last thing we want, is to remain sick for longer.
What it does
It take a picture of the prescription vial, and send the picture to image recognition API, and it will return useful information for us to automatically build a reminder for patients in their google or apple calendar.
How we built it
We built it through sheer hard work and dedication. All of us are relatively inexperience with coding and UI designing. We used what we know about the basic concepts and scaffolding, and we use a lot of help from LLM to build this rudimentary proto-type.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a lot of challenges, firstly, it was difficult to get react running properly, Szeyan had to spend a lot of time troubleshooting and using LLM to help diagnosis errors. I have to learn a new language, and I had trouble getting the Gemini API to return the response I wanted consistently. It was Shireen's first time designing, and it was hard for her to make the UI both simple, intuitive and professional. We want to maximize user experience, and make it as simple as possible for the end user. It is Una Yu's first time working on the backend; it was challenging for her to have a detail and comprehensive domain analysis.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud to even pull this together during the last min, and have a rudimentary proto-type. When we started this project, all of us were so nervous about how inexperienced we are. We are proud to work together as a team.
What we learned
We learn that team work, and apply basic concepts, we can solve big problems, one small step at a time.
