Inspiration

Coming from a business background from a tier3 city, we know how difficult it is for business owners to expand their business without the availability of a proper courier service that helps ship goods to other cities as well. Even if we want to ship a small product, we need to go to the agent, fill n forms and then the good gets shipped.

What it does

Out of all of this, we come in as a middleman by doing all the hassle for the customer in our own delivery service which will be focused more towards tier 3 cities so that anyone can enjoy the spices from Malwa, water bottles from Gujarat and quality furniture from Jodhpur. We provide precise tracking of products with precise delivery by following the DabbaWala system of Mumbai. This will also help generate a lot of employment due to the need of delivery people from different zones along with expanding different businesses eliminating the need of strong reach in an area for business.

How we built it

We used MySQL as the Database service, Express for backend and React for frontend development. We started by ideating the project on paper for 3-4 hours. After completing the ideation after some strong discussion with mentors, we made a final plan and started working on the UI of the project. After around 5-6 hours doing some research work, we came to a final UI and then started working on the coding part as soon as it was possible.

Challenges we ran into

Being completely newbie to the hackathon environment, the challenges we faced were to network with people and facing imposter syndrome, having some issues in the API calls, and also the internet in the venue, if that counts.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of ourselves that despite running short of attendance, we first of all invested our time into a hackathon. Other than that, we're proud that we stepped out of the city in the world. This was a stepping stone into a completely new world. We are proud that despite being new to programming full stack apps, we were some how able to make a project.

What we learned

We learned working in team with the help of the Git workshop taken by some mentor. We also learned how to learn fast when things need to be done in some specific point of time. We also learned about making our own APIs and using them to create some fun backend servers.

What's next for PikcupPal

We are surely not gonna stop contributing to this project. Though this is a hackathon idea, we feel this idea has a potential to lead India's startup environment. So being in college, we would want to start these services on a smaller scale.
