Project Inspiration

We wanted to make an app that was focused around chronoception, the concept of how time passes. It felt like just yesterday when we began our freshman year of college and became friends—now, with less than two months left of our first year, we have come to realize how fleeting time truly is.

During conversations, we realize that we often forget what we ate or even wore from such busy weeks. More often than not, the pace of everyday life restricts us from slowing down and reflecting on accomplishments or experiences.

With our shared love for journaling and capturing random moments throughout our day, we created PictureThis.

App Concept

Every day, you snap one photo and write about your day—no likes, no follower counts, just honest reflection. At the end of the week, your photo dump comes together and gets shared with your closest friends, so you can catch up on each other's lives in the most personal way possible.

Design Process

This past weekend, each of us learned to navigate and successfully use Figma to bring our idea to life. We have minimal to zero experience with design and Figma, so this process made room for a lot of trial and error.

Our largest obstacle was understanding the different features of Figma. However, since the interface is so accessible, this hurdle was quickly overcome.

Next, we faced a wall when deciding what our design would look like:

  • Would icons take away from the clean and minimal brand image we were envisioning?
  • How can we create an accessible layout and wireframe?

By pulling from our own experiences with accessible features in applications, we were able to create a final product that we are both proud of and satisfied with.
