pickax3 — Devpost: About your project
Inspiration
Reddit is a very unique platform, it's not something that can really be approached with a blanket ruleset, however moderators are left with very little choices to help control their communities, Automod isn't something that you will know how to use unless you can grasp the language, and even then you may just be copy pasting rules that aren't really going to help you grow. Enter pickax3.
What it does
pickax3 is a powerhouse mod tool that includes everything you could possibly want to help you control your community and keep ahead of threats while also staying alert of trends that you want to be seen.
pickax3 leverages every single reddit api available and offers a full view moderator dashboard and mobile version as well that can help you see trends, threats in real time and gives you superpowers to fight them.
But it doesn't stop there, pickax3 also offers a elementor style drag and drop custom splash screen creator that also abides by rules and can act as a entry post, a team post, a post for your high contributors, or whatever else you can think it.
How I built it
I built it with a lot of time and a lot of patience and care, trying my best to make sure everything is easy to use for both beginners and experts alike, while making it easy to realize the power of this tool as soon as you hit the dashboard.
Challenges I ran into
The current platform constraints made it difficult for some of the things, but eventually with enough patience, I was able to overcome them!
Accomplishments I'm proud of
Creating a tool that will help communities with 500 or 5million members fast, efficiently, automated or AI powered or hybrid, it's all in the moderators hands.
What I learned
I started with creating the AI powered version, and the pipeline I use is amazing, however after hearing feedback it hit me that it's not exactly something moderators who do their job for free might be able to do, and it reminded me of what reddit is all about, so I guess I learned, automation isn't always the solution.
What's next for pickax3
Polishing the product and doing everything I can to continue making it easier to utilize. To make sure reddit communities have the tools to keep their communities engaged, happy, and moderated.
NOTE FOR THE TRY IT OUT LINKS - You will need to be a Mod to get access to the console message me on Reddit u/Runtime_Renegade, or Discord.
