Inspiration
It all started after reading several news about the loneliness epidemic. We’ve lived the dating struggle ourselves—and so have many people around us. No matter your age, gender, or what you're looking for, the problems repeat: not getting any matches, seeing profiles that tell you nothing about the person, and spending hours scrolling just to maybe find someone compatible.
When AI started becoming more accessible, we saw an opportunity: what if it could take care of the hard parts—building a real profile and finding someone who actually fits you? What if you only had to focus on having one good conversation a day?
That’s how Pickaberry started. It’s still evolving, but the goal has always been simple: make dating more human, not more exhausting.
What it does
Pickaberry is a dating platform that sends you one highly compatible match per day. That’s it.
You don’t have to write a bio or swipe endlessly. Instead, you answer a few thoughtful questions, and our AI builds a real, in-depth personality profile for you—one that actually shows who you are.
Every day, we match you with someone who fits not just your preferences, but your personality. The goal is to make dating less overwhelming and more meaningful—one good match, one good conversation at a time.
How we built it
We started a year ago, refining the matching system and automatising all what could be automatized, so people can focus on what really matters: connecting with people. We also wanted to think in a system and an approach, not just using AI for the shake of it. We see it as a technology that makes systems more human, which is key in the relations industry. We tried to built a working prototype, designed and redesigned the whole flow, and finally now we've been capable of building it. We've used Bolt as much as possible, integrating it with Supabase.
We've used two individual pro plans pro 50 and use two Github to merge it.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was designing the whole experience from scratch. We came up with the “harvest” dynamic—one match a day for everyone at the same time—which is something we hadn’t seen in other apps. Creating a system where people don’t feel rejected or invisible, and where even those who usually struggle to find matches can actually connect, was not easy.
On the technical side, using AI without having big resources was also tough. We had to put a lot of thought into how to make the system smart enough to find truly compatible profiles, filter out the wrong ones, work across time zones, and still feel smooth and human to the user.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re still far from where we want to be, but building the whole project—from a working backend to the user experience—with limited resources and staying true to our vision of how technology should serve people is something we’re really proud of.
Now, we just need a few people to trust us and join the journey to create something that can truly help a lot of people.
What we learned
We’ve learned that AI—and tools like Bolt—can become more than just utilities; they feel like teammates that help you go further than you could alone.
We also learned what it means to have a founder mindset: to not give up, to focus on solving problems instead of getting stuck in them.
And maybe most importantly, we’ve seen firsthand how much people are struggling. In our early tests, the reaction from people who’ve been single for years and had lost faith in dating apps has been incredibly encouraging. It reminded us why we’re building this in the first place.
What's next for Pickaberry
What you see now is a 0.1 working version. It’s still rough—it doesn’t look the way it should, and it’s mostly a skeleton. Next, we’ll start bringing in our first users, even if it’s just friends and family, to keep testing and refining the system. We also plan to improve the app’s design and UX to meet today’s standards and feel truly polished.
Once we gain some traction and validate the experience, we’ll start looking for VCs who share our vision and want to help us grow Pickaberry into something meaningful and lasting.
