Inspiration
Pick One Flick Some: The classic family game “Guess Who?” meets 3D interactive characters of your mutual friends in your living room! With voice chat and character interaction, create unique experiences in each session in your own space with your friends.
This is not only a binary search game, this time the game will be more personal, and more compelling.
Your Facebook groups (classmates, band members) become game characters! Engage in gossip about them while enjoying their avatar’s unique gestures. Mutual Friends in the Meta will become game characters.
A new dimension for a book club! Books in common in the GoodReads will become AI-generated 3D assets in the game.
Movie buffs will show their passion. Movies in common in the IMDb will become AI-generated 3D posters in the game.
What it does
The target group is between 30-50 ages, distant from the MR devices. Familiarity with the game will lead them to choose to play the game, and the Social Aspect will keep them in it.
The game has a flexible and social nature. A new opponent means a new game with a new set of characters each time. Creativity comes up with your witty questions to your opponent.
Players may tend to create their own avatar more look like in Meta, which will increase the Personalization in the Meta ecosystem.
How we built it
First, we developed the idea in multiple sketches. The main aim was to make the XR game experience more personal and social. The content of game will always be fetched from players' mutual friends and common interests such as books or movies.
We introduced an "egocentric" UX design experience. We created a wheel menu and a game board, anchored to the player's head position. We tested the distance for interaction to create better ergonomics for a near-field distance experience. In the end, the player has an immersive experience in a gameplay.
We mainly implemented the Meta SDKs to build up a fun and interactable enviroment for the players. We used the MRUK to place the experiment in the real world
Challenges we ran into
Learning the new features, such as Meta PP SDKs. Documents were not user-friendly. For two days, it was hard to learn and implement all SDK. And also naming conventions and objects structures were hard to understand.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building a concrete PoC of our idea. Using interactions effectively.
