Inspiration

Inspiration for this came from my mom, being a doctor of the previous generation grew an immense interest in gardening, however, when she searched for plants to grow, she was given a generic prompt in search engines and most of the plants were not even suitable to our area and were not available. Even most of the suggestions at many plant nurseries were not that great and sellers there gave many generic advices which made very few plants survive.

What it does

You give input on your climate(humid, tropical, etc), where you want to grow it, time able to spend per week for caring plants, sunlight available, etc and the app suggests plants that cater to your lifestyle while also giving you the benefits you asked for. Maybe you want flowering plants that look good, plants that bear fruits or vegetables, everything you ask for, this app delivers.

How we built it

I used the partyrock by AWS and gave my criteria to create the app and gave a few more variables myself and incorporated them into the code in the main file.

Challenges we ran into

Not knowing how to create a good app that can be used by everyone with ease of use, it should cater to me and my mom, who is not too proficient with technology, so this made me create 30-40 apps while trying for that perfect app with easy prompts and this was very challenging. It took many hours trying to give easy prompts that can be understood by someone who even has a very basic fluency in English.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating an AI-based app on Partyrock which makes me happy.

What we learned

Using Partyrock for creating apps

What's next for Pick a Pot- The plant suggest app

I want to add various features and create another version, Mend a Pot- The plant expert app which has various other advanced options, like being able to select the type of soil(black, red, etc), how tall of a plant would you want, compatibility with any plant you already have, etc.
