The world today is evolving at a very rapid rate in terms of technology, keeping up to update on the frontier is a very challenging ordeal mostly for everyone but especially here in the Solomon Islands, having visibility on all aspects of the different industries in terms of data boils down to one main issue and that is a gap in data insights.

This is what motivated us to seek and invent solutions through technology to address this problem.

Coming across the pacific hackathon problem statement has captivated us to feel and understand the experience that PIANGO is experiencing, and with that nudges us to participate in this event hoping to help solve the issue.

What it does

Important policy documents are not recorded and tracked, which causes a slim representation of issues that are sent for deliberation by regional leaders. Every actor in the system have mandatory roles to play making it more transparent. Our proposed solution records every activity and timestamps the entire process of how the submissions flow between PIANGO, NLU, CSOs and regional leaders.

How we built it

With a close window frame to deploy a rapid software product, we have opt-in using the open-source framework octoberCMS stack. Below are key activities involved in the development process.

  1. Research & Analysis on PIANGOs Organisation structure and relationship with its stakeholders
  2. Analyse the problem statement and identify requirements
  3. Code up each requirement and pass it through our validation process.
  4. Iterate activity 3 until we get a 30% ready MVP which is constrained by the due date.

Challenges we ran into

Time constraints and lack of holistic understanding of the problem statement for this hackathon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to gather a diverse team of hackers within a very short period of time and to produce an MVP that fulfils the basic requirements of the problem statement.

What we learned

We have learnt of the different but valuable roles that stakeholders of PIANGO played in the betterment of the lives of the people of the Pacific.

Business Model

We realise that the throve of data collected by PIANGO on this platform holds tangible values that can be used not only by PIANGO and its stakeholders but also by interested third parties. A subscription-based service can be an ideal Business Model for this platform.

Subscriptions can be time-based, user-based (seats), or a hybrid of the two.

What's next for PIANGO Online

Improving the current platform that we have, making it more accessible and robust.
