Inspiration
Each member of our team struggled with physics in highschool. So, we decided to create a simulation to help students visualize difficult physics concepts.
What it does
Simulates typical highschool physics lab settings. Allows users to explore the lab from various camera angles and visualize what is happening in 3D and real-time
How I built it
We used C# and 3D modelling software in tandem with the Unity Game Engine to simulate real-world physics. We incorporated this simulation into a web app made with the React framework for greater accessibility and performance.
Challenges I ran into
It was difficult to create an accurate representation of the kinetic energy transfer using the Unity engine.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Having never used Unity, C#, or 3D modelling before, we were able to produce a working prototype for the hackathon.
What I learned
We learned how to use various tool in tandem to develop software with real-life application
What's next for PhysicsPlaygroundU
We plan to add more labs and polish the UI in future releases
