Inspiration
I am an amateur level photographer and enjoy photographing events such as trail runs. I give my photos to the runners for free because the photos are pretty normal. So the inspiration was how AI can teach me something useful.
What it does
I always have a target I want to shoot. Trail run, cats at home or vacation in Greece. So the idea was to enter your camera model or smartphone model and what you want to capture. A lens is optional. After that, the AI gives me the usual settings for my camera and a few more creative ones. And most importantly, the AI gives me some tips on composing and what I should avoid. Sample photos give me an inspiration of what it can look like.
How we built it
Starting with the 3 input widgets. After that try out some LLM for creating the camera settings based on the inputs. The project has grown step by step. So I used all widget types excluding the chat because the app should be used as a blueprint or personalized whitepaper.
Challenges we ran into
The more widgets, the slower the app. But as a prototyping tool, PartyRocks is brilliant. Speed doesn't really matter that much. The hardest part was Image AI. The results of the prompts are good but sometimes the images are not good enough and are too unrealistic. e.g. cat with 3 legs.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A pretty good use-case. I found out camera settings I didn´t know of.
What we learned
Combining widgets often makes more sense than 1 input to 1 output.
What's next for Photography Assistant: Camera Coach
I have tons of ideas with it. Out of PartyRock it could be a nice app to learn to handle your camera ith your equipment. Not general advices. I would use BedRock and a 3rd party AI image generation for that. Also a website for downloaing personalized whitepapers could be nice. I´m pretty sure you will start with these ideas later on.
