Inspiration

One of our team members is a photographer, and they have struggled to find good photoshoot locations in the past. They wanted a way to easily search locations by characteristic, or by photo.

What it does

Our site is a place where photographers can submit photos with a location tag and characteristic tags. People can then browse the images to see where their favorite ones were taken, or they can search by characteristic (eg indoor, nature, urban, etc).

How we built it

We built the site using HTML, bootstrap, and CSS and used Github pages to host it. All photos are original, shot by a team member.

Challenges we ran into

We had some challenges getting directories to link in GitHub and also dealt with and worked through plenty of merge conflicts, as expected.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

That we completed a working prototype. This was our first hackathon so it really could have gone a lot worse.

What we learned

We are both also just getting started with software/web dev so ended up having to find some work arounds doing databases, but overall learned a lot about bootstrap and also learned what else we can focus on for the next hackathon! We also learned that we should probably learn how to use Javascript libraries such as JQuery.

What's next for Photo Shoot Location Finder

Working on backend will be big so that we can allow users to actually upload their images. We plan to create tables that store the address and tags for every image. We also want to add user profiles so that people can save some their favorite places they find on the site.
