Inspiration:
We all love music, but we are not competent enough to produce music using physical instruments. This is why we created an interface that can translate body movement into music.
What it does
Our Sensorical uses many different kinds of sensors to detect body movements and convert them to musical chords.
How we built it
We first tested all the sensors to gain a better understanding of how they work. Then, we assigned a role to each sensor.
Challenges we ran into
Initially, we were planning to mount an Arduino board on the back of a performer and communicate with it using an Arduino Bluetooth module. However, we could not figure out how to use the Bluetooth modules. We ended up wiring the Arduino board to send the signals.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made a working device from the tools that were provided despite the time limit.
What we learned
Interfacing with the Bluetooth module is hard but we familiarized ourselves with various kinds of Arduino modules. We gained hands-on experience in circuitry, sensors, and EMG.
What's next for Sensorical
Provide more songs and chords for the user to experiment with.
