What it does
- Night stand with light
- Phone holder for hands-free viewing
- Alarm
- Prevents snoring
- Remote controlled pranking device
How we built it
- Phone holder is held by 4 servo motors, locked in by a manual button
- 4 servo motors drops the phone on these conditions:
- Remote controlled feedback
- Sound detection triggered by alarm, alarm system is turned on by a button
- Manual button again
- Night Light triggered by a button
Challenges we ran into
Learning to use the ESP32 from scratch served to be a real challenge; we had issues with power, connectivity, and wiring.
What we learned
We learned the fundamentals of how to work with an ESP32 as well as apply our knowledge with Arduino. Additionally, we applied skills learned in our electrical and computer engineering courses.
What's next for the Phone Dropper
Custom PCBs, more reliable microcontrollers, smaller footprint container
