Inspiration

My parents would always call asking about certain emails and if they are legit (they never were). I finally wanted a good way to teach them how to spot fake emails without having to tell them on the phone, because it never worked! Now if they click on your fake email, they get sent to a training course for them to take.

What it does

Allows users to send fake emails to teach people about email phishing safety.

How we built it

Built with react + supabase

Challenges we ran into

Making emails look legit (netflix, apple, amazon, etc) without spam filters kicking in ( they still sometimes do and we are actively trying stay ahead of them)

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Sending very clean and professional looking emails that mimic Apple/Amazon/Facebook/etc was very satisfying.

What we learned

Learned a lot about how certain email clients flagged emails as suspicious and spam.

What's next for PhishGuard

In progress work includes: automation and email scheduling Also have Teams and enterprise features in the works!
