Inspiration
Phishing emails are one of the biggest cybersecurity threats today. Millions of people lose money and personal data every year by falling for fake emails. As someone learning cybersecurity, I wanted to build a tool that helps everyday people protect themselves without needing any technical knowledge.
What it does
PhishGuard is an AI-powered phishing email detector. Users paste any suspicious email into the app and click "Analyze for Threats." The app instantly gives a danger score from 0 to 100, detects red flags like urgent language, suspicious links, and requests for sensitive data, and provides proactive safety tips on what to do next.
How we built it
I built PhishGuard entirely using MeDo. I described what I wanted in plain language and MeDo generated the full app — including the threat assessment engine, the danger score system, the red flag detection, and the safety tips section. No coding required.
Challenges we ran into
I learned how phishing attacks work, what patterns scammers use, and how to turn a real-world problem into a working app using AI tools.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building a fully functional cybersecurity tool with no coding experience. PhishGuard successfully detected a 100/100 danger score on a real phishing email test, catching every single red flag including suspicious URLs, urgent language, and sensitive data requests.
What we learned
I learned how phishing attacks work, what psychological tricks scammers use to manipulate victims, and how AI tools like MeDo can help beginners build real-world security solutions without writing a single line of code.
What's next for PhishGuard - Phishing Email Detector
Adding real-time URL scanning, email attachment analysis, and a browser extension so users can check emails directly in Gmail without copy-pasting.
