Inspiration Kids face phishing and impersonation daily, but most safety lessons are passive. We wanted a game where players practice spotting manipulation in a fun, social setting.
What it does Phish-Or-Friend is an Among Us-style Roblox game where players complete tasks while AI scammer NPCs use urgency and fake authority to lure them to a fake terminal. Players then vote out suspects and get a quick tactic breakdown at round end.
How we built it We built the game loop in Roblox (tasks, phases, voting, reveal) and connected it to a FastAPI backend for live NPC decisions/dialogue. Agent personas generate realistic phishing messages based on player context and round state.
Challenges we ran into Biggest challenges were making AI dialogue feel natural but safe, keeping Roblox↔backend timing smooth, and teaching safety without turning gameplay into a lecture.
Accomplishments that we're proud of We turned phishing education into replayable gameplay, shipped end-to-end AI-driven scam interactions, and created clear post-round lessons that players actually remember.
What we learned Behavior change works better through play than prompts alone. Short, emotional, social moments plus immediate reflection teach digital safety faster and stick longer.
What's next for Phish-Or-Friend Next we plan to add more scam tactics (giveaway bait, friend impersonation), co-op parent/child modes, adaptive difficulty by age, and a classroom-friendly analytics dashboard for learning outcomes.
