Inspiration
Living in philadelphia means hearing the constant sounds of construction around you, no matter the neighborhood that you live in.
What it does
Generates an instance of google maps that shows 4 markers that represent a construction zone in Philadelphia. It is not complete by any means, but it works.
How we built it
Utilized Python and Google Maps API integrated with javascript, html, and css
Challenges we ran into
AJAX, Node.js, npm, nvm,flask,djano,html,css,javascript and other frameworks and tools that we had no prior experience in using.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Webscraping correctly and generating a google maps instance using the google maps API
What we learned
Learned how to webscrape and parse html from any given website and how to call the Google Maps API for geolocation using javascript.
What's next for "Philadelphia StreetSmart: Navigating Construction Zones"
I want to finish our idea of integrating our Python array data of every construction zone and the corresponding streets affected with our javascript file containing google maps API, so that the user can run our code and see areas to avoid in Philly.
