Inspiration
Conversations with PHD's who aren't able to keep up with multiple new research papers being released every day in a particular field.
What it does
We have two functionalities, one function finds relevant research papers and provides summaries of the most recent papers in AI. The other functionality is a search tool which engages in a conversation with the user ensuring the optimal selection of papers is chosen. It then explains why certain papers have been chosen by reading their abstracts and ensuring the query has been answered.
How we built it
Python for backend, MongoDB for partial database implementation, React/Next.js for front end
Challenges we ran into
None of us were proficient with the use of API's, Prompt engineering was tough and front end development was something none of us had experience with
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Having a presentable product and making the retrieval algorithm work
What we learned
How to use API's, how to setup front end, prompt engineering, how to get back and front end to communicate
What's next for Research Assistant
like/dislike button for news which provides more relevant papers, relevancy graph for papers
