Inspiration

The inspiration behind this app was how big pharmaceutical companies take advantage of their sick customers to create me-too drugs that already exist on the market. Those in the lower-middle class to poverty who do not feel like in they can afford what big pharmaceutical companies are pushing as treatment. Many civilians face the dilemma between health and bills which is an unethical comparison and our app was made to change that and give everyone an equal opportunity to their right to health.

What it does

The app can either look up the drug manually or take a picture of the medication and or barcode to learn more about the ingredients within the drug. This app also compares the drug to other FDA-approved drugs on the market and gives recommendations based on the ingredient list, what the drug does, and the cost of the drug. This was inspired by those in the lower-middle class to poverty who do not feel like in they can afford what big pharmaceutical companies are pushing as treatment.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into trouble with Palantir Foundry, linking our files together, python scripting, and figuring out how to bring our idea into reality.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of making the homepage of our app and the camera. Also our concept and how much it could change healthcare.

What we learned

We learned a lot about python, swift, Palantir Foundry, implementing cameras, and creating data for apps.

What's next for PharmAssist

We plan to work on this concept even after the event because we are proud of what it can do for healthcare and human rights.
