Inspiration

The necessity to streamline healthcare navigation—particularly with regard to comprehending drugs and utilizing pharmacy services—led to the creation of PharmaPulse. Our mission is to enable people by providing them with convenient access to trustworthy drug information and local pharmacies, therefore encouraging proactive health management and well-informed decision-making.

What it does

PharmaPulse is a comprehensive tool designed to make navigating healthcare easier. PharmaPulse has a chatbot to help consumers with questions about medications among its many functions. But this chatbot is only one part of the extensive offers on the site. Apart from the chatbot, PharmaPulse offers:

1. Medication Comparison: Users can compare different medications and their side effects, enabling informed decision-making regarding their treatment options.

2. Medication Management: By entering relevant information, users receive notifications about their medication supply, including how many days they have left before running out. This feature ensures timely refills and continuity of care.

3. Pharmacy Locator: PharmaPulse provides users with the locations of nearby pharmacies, simplifying the process of finding and accessing medication.

4. Shopping Cart Integration: Users can add medications to a virtual shopping cart for easy reference and planning. PharmaPulse even offers the convenience of text reminders, ensuring users remember to pick up their prescriptions when they're out.

How we built it

PharmaPulse was carefully designed with a smooth user experience and improved functionality in mind, utilizing a blend of state-of-the-art technologies and strong frameworks:

Frontend Development: To build PharmaPulse's frontend interface, we leveraged the capabilities of the incredibly effective JavaScript package React.js and Tailwind for syling. The component-based design of React made it easier to create modular and reusable user interface components, which improved code maintainability and development efficiency.

Python for Backend Development PharmaPulse's backend architecture was based on Django. We were able to quickly create and implement scalable backend services by utilizing Django's extensive feature set. 

Integration of Google OAuth: PharmaPulse offers our consumers a safe and easy login experience by seamlessly integrating Google OAuth for user authentication. Through utilizing

Challenges we ran into

Our team faced a number of major obstacles while developing PharmaPulse, which put our resolve and problem-solving skills to the test. The smooth integration of the frontend and backend components was one significant challenge. It was first challenging to make sure that the Python Django backend and the React.js frontend communicated properly because of strange problems and discrepancies. Our development approach became replete with debugging and troubleshooting as we diligently endeavored to address these problems and attain unity between the application's two tiers. Furthermore, the identification of defects and unforeseen problems necessitated quick and efficient problem-solving, particularly while working under limited time restrictions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to have successfully implemented all planned features in PharmaPulse. From medication management to chatbot assistance, every feature was seamlessly integrated. Overcoming obstacles such as debugging errors under tight deadlines.

What we learned

We learned about the complexities of integrating new APIs—most notably, the FDA API and Google Maps—while developing PharmaPulse. Working with these APIs gave us insights on how to use other services to improve the functionality of our platform. Our experience deepened our understanding of technology and shown how crucial it is to integrate outside services when developing solutions that have an impact.

In the future, we aspire to expand PharmaPulse's accessibility by offering multilingual support beyond English and refining the chatbot feature with advanced natural language processing capabilities.
