Inspiration

Pharma Connect aims to resolve the lack of medical resources in developing and less developed countries by using technology, ensuring everyone around the globe has proper medical treatment.

What it does

Pharma Connect is a web platform that easily connects patients and medical professionals. The website can allow the user to register and store information on the backend server.

How we built it

We built the project with React, Node.js, Express.js, and MongoDB. The project supports JSON Web Token for user authentication and backend server queries that connect all information from the server-side to the client-side.

Challenges we ran into

We faced many technical challenges during the development. Before the project, we have never used MongoDB, and had very little experience with JSON Web Token authentication. We also faced many issues when setting up Redux and when we connect the backend server with the client view.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are really proud of the progress we made in 24 hours! It is exciting to figure out all technical challenges and have a functional product working after one day of development.

What's next for Pharma Connect

There are many technical additions that we can consider establishing with this application, they are quite bold but not impossible: with the help of machine learning algorithms, we can auto-verify licenses of medical employees, with the maturing technology of 5G network and virtual reality combined into medical technology, we can foresee that this type of medical inquiry platforms can even implement remote control applications for surgery Robots. During a medical emergency, highly skilled medical professionals can perform operations at home with the VR connection established.

A useful scenario for the combination of such platform and VR HeadSet is that, when there is a public emergency where a large number of patients need immediate medical attention, and there is a lack of medical personnels, we can simply send in medical robots, and highly skilled professionals all around the globe can connect to the platform and reach out to help.

In theory, with the world becoming more and more connected through 5G and VR technologies, the emergence of a powerful online platform that may grant equivalent medical assistance for anyone around the globe would be possible, and an application like Pharma-Connect can help in shaping that future.
