Inspiration
We are currently seeing the devastating effects of poor resource management, and people acting irrationally in stressful situations. We want to help public health authorities to better manage the resources needed in a crisis situation.
The inspiration for this project comes from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, who posed the following challenges:
- How Public Health Agencies can manage the outbreak more efficiently?
- How can we reduce the burden on health care?
- How can we focus the resources to achieve the best outcome?
- How can we target the control measures?
What it does
PHARM is used by those in charge of distributing resources like masks, gloves, respirators, etc. The web app can only be viewed by distributors/managers and administrators.
After login, the user will see an overview of the resources, sorted by risk factor. When you select a resource, an overview of all public health agencies in need of this resource will appear, also based on risk. They can make contact via call, email or Whatsapp to confirm the need for resources. Once the resources have been planned for distribution, the distributors mark the agency as "Managed", which will drop it to the bottom of the list. Once the database is reflecting the replenished resources, the agency will disappear from the list.
Both overview feature graphs, illustrating the overall risk. This enables distributors/managers, to distribute resources where it is needed the most and can effectively "flatten the curve" of the resource mismanagement happening today. Since the app is sorting resources and recipients by risk, the best option will always appear as the first one, making it very easy to make data-driven decisions.
Since we are using Glide, we use a Google spreadsheet as the backend for our demo and the administrator can choose to work in the app or in the spreadsheet - whatever they are more comfortable with! We are considering adding Google Maps, so distributors can navigate directly to the health agency.
