Inspiration
We were inspired by our interest in the biological and business fields. Additionally, we wanted to create an accessible and convenient way for individuals to access medication.
What it does
The app provides medication details, a calendar, and pharmacy locations with prices on a map. It can also read and provide basic information and instructions based on the image of the medication the user submitted.
How we built it
We created this app by originally drawing out and formatting features of the app, including buttons, homepages, and the AI. We built our AI bot, RXAI, using NLP and NMT to decipher what the user is saying and how to best respond. When users open the app, they will input information such as a doctor’s note, allergies, and budget. It will prescribe medication using machine learning and algorithms to learn from millions of stored data to provide the best treatment possible for the specific user.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled with our AI, RXAI, malfunctioning. It constantly kept giving incorrect responses. However, we kept inputting data and medical history, training our AI to get more accurate.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we created an app that can be beneficial to society based off scratch. Our idea of combining pharmaceuticals and AI can help many industries such as healthcare fields.
What we learned
We learned hard skills such as coding with AI and graphic designing. Additionally, some soft skills included cooperation and time management.
What's next for Pharm-assist
In the future, the project will branch out to other customers with disabilities by adding features like text to speech. We can reach patients that can’t access pharmacies with features like delivery and live chat.
