Inspiration
As students, our team noted that many individuals are spending way too long on the internet which hinders their productivity, so we wanted to make it easier for them to identify the factors that contribute to this and come up with sensible ways to address it. For example, websites like Youtube, Instagram, Tiktok all take away our focus when we are working.
What it does
We aim to gamify productivity in a way that younger people may find appealing for motivation so that individuals can see their choices within the game result in consequences or rewards. For each completed study period, you increase your points. A cute cat character accompanies the user throughout!
Users enter the websites they wish to block during their study time and then input the how long they want to study and how long they want to rest. During study time, accessing blocked websites will be not allowed, but when the timer finishes, they are unlocked!
How we built it
We built our project using HTML, CSS, and Javascript
Challenges we ran into
We had trouble finding how to store the user information and timer after the popup closes or the page refreshes.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting the popup, blocked websites, and different timer states functionality completed
What we learned
We learned about chrome API’s, using Github in a team environment, and creating buttons, text-boxes, popups, and different pages in Javascript, HTML, and CSS.
What's next for Pétudier
Green browser means timer on Toggle on and off cat timer display during work period Pause button for timer Using points to redeem different cat character icons
