Inspiration: Our inspiration was to have a funny spin on traditional dating apps like Tinder and Bumble. What person does not think that cute animals are funny?
What it does: Pokes fun at the idea that pets have become the new children due to the rising cost of having human children. We make a way for people to find friends for their pets and potentially match adoptable pets with owners with a simple swipe.
How we built it: We used Flutter and Android Studio within Virtual Studio Code to build a mobile application using dart as a programming language. Android Studio was used as an IDE for android app development. Flutter was used to build customizable widgets to simplify complex and visually appealing user interfaces. We used GitHub to create a repository with a main branch allowing for multiple branches to be created in order to collaborate between each other.
Challenges we ran into: We had issues getting the softwares to run initially and had to get help in order to get them to start up.
Accomplishments that we're proud of: We are proud of having an app to show that is both funny and have a practical use.
What we learned: Get the software to start a week before the hackathon.
What's next for PetPals: This is a one off project and we do not intend to develop further.
