Petodoro
Our group built Petodoro to tackle a problem we all face: staying focused while studying. The idea was simple but fun a pixel pet that keeps you motivated. If you pick up your phone during a focus session, your pet “dies,” encouraging you to stay on track.
We combined React, TailwindCSS, and TensorFlow.ts to create the interface, animations, and real-time phone detection. It was amazing to see all the pieces come together.
One of the biggest challenges was syncing real-time detection with the pet’s reactions. The AI sometimes misfired, or the timers conflicted, and we spent hours figuring out how to keep the page stable even when the pet “died” or the session ended.
Through this project, we learned a ton about real-time browser AI, React state management, and collaborative coding. Most importantly, we created something that’s functional, fun, and maybe a little terrifying for phone addicts like us.
