Inspiration

Helping people leading busy lifestyle with an app to keep important tasks and dates with reminders

What it does

It is simply a reminder app with a game element to encourage recurrent visits . As people keep completing task, they gain experience points to level up their chosen pet which is a dog or cat.

How I built it

Our group went with a simple design and went something similar to MERN stack. Using html/css with javascript to code the function and buttons.

user data/account were created and saved via firebase authentication.

and Ideally the task/reminders would be saved onto firebase cloud storage or mongodb altas for persistent data.

Challenges I ran into

We had a very wide gap knowledge and had to compromise to a more simple app to allow for fair contribution.

Another challenged was the timezone difference. Two of us were in Canada while the other was in India. Very difficult to coordinate the workflow.

In building the app, we've ran into issue on what Oauth provider to use such as okta or firebase.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

In terms of a running app, it is functional in localhost. That it can load up a user and allow them to add in new task.

What's next for Petential

Adding more functions and utility for the leveling system of the pets. Maybe a currency to get new accessories for the pet like a bow or hat. • Pet food • data storage.
