PetConnect – Hackathon Submission

Inspiration

In today’s fast-paced world, people love pets but often struggle to find trustworthy adoption sources, caretakers, veterinarians, and essential services. We saw how difficult it is for abandoned pets to find homes and how unorganized the local pet ecosystem is. PetConnect was inspired by the idea of creating a single digital bridge that connects pet lovers, adopters, shelters, and service providers—making pet care simpler, safer, and more accessible.

What it does

PetConnect is an all-in-one platform that:

Helps users discover pets available for adoption
Connects pet owners with vets, trainers, and caretakers
Provides verified listings to ensure trust and safety
Allows shelters to upload pet profiles quickly
Offers a clean, easy-to-use interface that works on any device
Builds a community space for pet lovers to share information, tips, and care resources

In short, PetConnect brings pets and people together in the simplest and smartest way.

How we built it

We used a modern AI-powered no-code environment to build PetConnect quickly and efficiently:

Base44 for front-end + back-end logic
Custom modules for forms, listings, and database flows
Integrated cloud database for storing pet profiles, user accounts, and service provider data
Responsive UI design to ensure the website works smoothly on phones, laptops, and tablets
Automations for adoption requests, service bookings, and notifications

This stack allowed us to focus more on problem-solving and user experience than on heavy coding.

Challenges we ran into

Ensuring the UI worked smoothly across all devices
Structuring the database to handle different types of users (owners, adopters, shelters, service providers)
Creating a clean, minimal interface that still presents rich pet information
Handling image uploads and ensuring they load quickly
Connecting multiple workflows (adoption forms, verification, bookings) without breaking logic

Each challenge helped us refine our platform and make it more robust.
