Inspiration
Pet owners often find it overwhelming to keep track of their pets' needs, especially when it comes to feeding, exercise, grooming, and health tips. The idea behind PetCare Daily came from the lack of a centralized, intelligent assistant that could guide pet care based on breed, age, and lifestyle. We envisioned a tool that could act like a virtual vet + scheduler for everyday care — powered by AI.
What it does
PetCare Daily allows users to select their pet type (dog, cat, etc.), input details like breed, age, and activity level, and receive customized care routines. It generates daily tasks and recommendations for:
- Feeding schedules
- Grooming frequency
- Exercise needs
- Training guidance
- Common health checks
It also provides users with engaging suggestions like pet games, healthy snacks, and mood-boosting tips, personalized by pet profile.
How I built it
- Frontend: Built with React and Vite for speed and modularity.
- UI: Tailwind CSS + shadcn/ui for a modern, mobile-first look.
- AI Logic: Integrated OpenAI to generate personalized routines, tips, and health alerts based on pet data.
- Animations: Framer Motion to make the interface interactive and fun.
- Hosting: Deployed on Render. Supabase integration planned for profile saving and reminder notifications.
Challenges I ran into
- Creating accurate and useful prompts for a wide range of pet breeds and needs.
- Making the AI responses feel personal while remaining medically safe and realistic.
- Balancing between playfulness (UI/UX) and trust (pet health-related content).
- Avoiding information overload — keeping routines short, focused, and actionable.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
- Built a working MVP that users love interacting with daily.
- Delivered real value by simplifying pet care into a daily checklist.
- Kept the app lightweight, fast, and accessible on all devices.
- Designed a UI that feels friendly, trustworthy, and easy to use.
What I learned
- AI can truly enhance day-to-day life when guided with precise prompts and structured logic.
- Pet care is both emotional and practical — UX must reflect both.
- Simple, consistent routines create user habit loops — critical for retention.
- Personalization is the future of digital wellness tools, even for pets.
