Inspiration

Nowadays, people tend to have more pets as companions rather than children. Pet owners often want 24/7 care services for their pets. When their pets get sick, they may search for information on Google or ChatGPT, which is often not accurate or specific enough. After surveying veterinarians, our team found that many FAQs, symptoms, and conversations are frequently repeated. Veterinarians don’t want to waste their energy and resources answering the same questions over and over. In many cases, the pets are not actually ill, their owners are simply panicking.

What it does

That’s why we created PetBuddy: Your Pet Care Assistant. It provides automated responses to common questions 24/7, including those about vaccinations, nutrition, and basic symptoms. This helps pet owners make quick, preliminary decisions through a chat interface. PetBuddy can also suggest nearby clinics or veterinary hospitals. In the future, we plan to cooperate with hospitals and integrate our service into multiple platforms.

How we built it

We primarily used bolt.new as the development platform for this project. After conducting surveys, our team identified the key features, designed the UX/UI, and then implemented the code. For the database, we consulted with veterinarians to gather essential information such as symptoms and corresponding solutions, as well as vaccination guidelines.

Challenges we ran into

We faced several challenges. The most significant included a limited database and ensuring that the chatbot’s responses were accurate, concise, and contextually appropriate, not too long or too short.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud that we successfully developed PetBuddy: Your Pet Care Assistant. We hope it can reduce the workload at veterinary clinics and help pet owners feel more confident and comfortable when caring for their beloved companions.
