Inspiration

Have you ever asked yourself, "What can a pet tell me about its owner?" If so, the Pet-sonality Profiler web app is designed for you!

The application is built on a generalization of scientific evidence regarding pet-owner interactions across different psychological and lifestyle traits. Robust science is combined with common wisdom and humor, so your journey will not be boring.

What it does

The app provides deep insights into the features of pet owners. It also gives clues to those who are just starting the process of choosing a pet and will be of great assistance in finding the best pet companion.

As a small bonus, the app also includes a section on theriotherapy (animal therapy) to find out which pet can improve your health conditions.

How we built it

Pet-sonality Profiler is a lightweight web application, built using standard web stack: HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.

Challenges we ran into

The most challenging part of the development process wasn't the coding itself, but establishing a rigorous scientific foundation. We wanted to ensure our users feel confident that they are using a product backed by substantiated research.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Lightweight, multiplatform, secure (with all processing handled client-side), and practically useful - what more could you ask for?

What we learned

I gained a wealth of new insights into the pet-owner relationship and animal-assisted therapy. Most surprisingly, I learned just how strong the correlation is between our personal outlook on life and the pets we choose to bring into our homes.

What's next for Pet-sonality Profiler

  • Multilingual Support: Expanding the application to include international languages for a global audience.

  • Enhanced Theriotherapy Research: Analyzing and adding a wider range of health conditions and corresponding animal-assisted treatments.

  • Mobile Development: Launching a dedicated mobile app for on-the-go access.

  • Expanded Pet Database: Increasing the variety of animals and breeds within our database to provide even more precise matches.
