Inspiration
While brainstorming we were thinking about programs and applications that we wished we could have. One of the issues I personally run into is expiration problems. This includes food and other products such as facial products.
What it does
Our programs allows the user to enter information about the product they own and track when their product will expire.
How we built it
Our group quickly agreed on using Java as it was a language we all knew how to utilize. We spent a great portion of the time discussing how we should implement this project (classes, methods, inheritance, etc).
Challenges we ran into
We had a lot of ideas but not enough time to fully research and implement them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m very proud of our groups ability to communication. Whenever we ran into issues we would ask each other and come up with different solutions to try and solve that problem. I also enjoyed explaining and/or learning concepts from my other group members.
What we learned
We learned how to work together and communicate effectively. That really helped us with our brainstorming session and keeping moral high during our developmental stages. Creating a plan was very important due to the limited time we had.
What's next for PET (Product Expiration Tracker)
We would like to continue to work on PET. Again we had many ideas that we would have liked to add. For example, two ideas we had were wanted to develope but only got to partially develop was if the user had an product without a expiration date, based on its attributes, we could give and estimated expiration date. We needed to do a lot of research we need a bit more brainstorming time to see how we would implement it. Another smaller project would be providing notices that the users food is about to expire. In our code, we developed a system to change the status based on the date. We were unable to implement it yet. We believe PET can be furthered expanded on and a useful tool for other users.
