Introduction:

Welcome to Pet Plant, where your plants come to life. Our innovative software transforms plant care into an enjoyable and engaging experience by gamifying the process of monitoring and adjusting soil and water pH levels.

Inspiration:

In an era of global warming and climate change, individual actions are crucial in combating these issues. Reducing our carbon footprint is essential, and one effective way to do this is by absorbing carbon dioxide through gardening. However, many people find gardening to be a cumbersome, repetitive, and uninteresting task, which discourages them from growing plants.

Project Goal:

Our aim is to encourage more people to grow plants by making the process fun and competitive through gamification. We hope that our application will motivate users to take better care of their plants, thereby reducing their carbon footprint and contributing to the fight against climate change.

What It Does and How We Built It:

We designed a prototype that integrates a moisture sensor, light intensity sensor, and pH level sensor to monitor soil health. To ensure sustainability, our device uses solar energy for recharging. The collected data is fed into our app, which evaluates the plant's health and recommends necessary actions. If water levels are low or pH levels are unsuitable, the app alerts the user and suggests corrective measures. Users can water the plant through the app by activating a valve connected to a sprinkler system. Similarly, if pH levels need adjustment, the sprinklers dispense fertilizers. The app also prompts users to move the plant if it lacks sufficient sunlight.

Challenges:

Our main challenge was designing an intuitive and appealing UI within a limited timeframe. Our team had diverse ideas, but we opted for a straightforward approach to simplify the process. We also had issues figuring out the exact prototype design but we decided to move forward with what seemed like the most simplified and practical approach.

Future of Pet Plant:

As this is a prototype, we had limited resources. However, we plan to incorporate light intensity management and use AI to analyze plant growth through photos. We also aim to introduce a leaderboard where users can compete, earn levels, and receive achievement badges. We believe these features will further encourage users to care for their plants diligently and with enthusiasm.
