Inspiration

When your dog gets older, sick or injured, the care details pile up fast. Pills, supplements, walks, meals, how he moved today. We had it spread across notes, photos and our heads. Then the vet asks "when did this start?" and you don't know.

What it does

Pup AI is a health journal for your dog. You just talk:

"We went for a 30 minute walk, gave him two glucosamine tablets and his fish oil. He was a bit stiff on the stairs."

Pup AI turns that into separate entries. Then you can ask "How's Cooper doing?" and get an answer from your own journal, with charts for weight and observations. Everything lands on one timeline you can show your vet.

It also tracks meds, supplements and peptides, schedules, reminders, weight and daily check-ins.

It doesn't diagnose and it doesn't tell you what to give. Your vet decides. We just make sure nothing gets forgotten.

How we built it

React and TypeScript, wrapped with Capacitor for iOS. Firebase for login, sync and analytics, plus the AI backend. OpenAI sorts the voice logs and writes the answers, with limits and safety rules on our server. RevenueCat runs the Pro subscription: offerings, purchases, restore, entitlements and Customer Center.

Challenges

Making the AI useful for dog health without acting like a vet. We rewrote the prompts and the app wording many times.

Voice was harder than expected too. Speech recognition hears "kibble" as "cable", so we feed it a dog food vocabulary.
