Inspiration

I was a farm manager and kept spray records in an excel file. I always wanted an easy to use app I could use for tracking and storing pesticide spray applications and was one of the reasons why I started to learn to code. Well, I never built this app, although I built other apps, so for the Bolt project I thought I had to!

What it does

This app provides a simple step form for creating and storing pesticide spray applications. Pesticide applicators are required by law to keep meticulous spray records, and this helps make it easier for them.

How to use it:

  • Enter Application Details: Fill out a form with the date, time, location, and weather.
  • Select Products: Search for EPA-registered products; safety info is filled in for you.
  • Add Applicator Info: Record who did the spraying and any safety equipment used.
  • Generate Records: Instantly create compliant records and safety signs you can download or print.
  • View History: See all your past application records, edit and download them anytime.

How I built it

I used Bolt.new, with React, Vite, and Supabase as the tech stack.

Challenges I ran into

I ran out of tokens before I could finish the app, and learned that bolt has a habbit of repeating code a lot. The frontend is not very well componentized.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I built an app that I had wanted to build for over 8 years!

What I learned

The MVP of this project really was simpler than I thought, and I should have built it a long time ago.

What's next for Pesticide Spray Record Assistant

I should build out teams features, translate warning notices to Spanish, and try to sell the app to a few early customers.
