Inspiration

Online discussions today rarely lead to understanding. Most platforms reward speed, volume, and outrage rather than thoughtful reflection. Important questions get buried under noise, arguments, or performative opinions. Perspectia was inspired by a simple question: What if discussions were designed to create clarity instead of conflict?

What it does

Perspectia is a daily topic discussion platform. Each day, a single topic is shared. Users contribute their perspectives freely, without competing for visibility. At the end of the day, an AI-generated summary analyzes all submissions to identify common viewpoints, opposing ideas, and key insights — presenting a neutral, balanced understanding of the discussion.

How we built it

We designed Perspectia as a full-stack application with a focus on simplicity and intention. The backend handles user authentication, topic scheduling, perspective collection, and automated daily summarization. The frontend provides a clean, distraction-free experience for reading and writing perspectives. The system is time-aware, ensuring topics and summaries follow a consistent daily rhythm.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was designing time-based logic that works consistently across days and time zones, especially for daily topic changes and summary generation. Another challenge was ensuring AI summaries remained neutral and accurate, even when user inputs were noisy or low-quality. Deployment, domain configuration, and scheduling reliability also required careful attention.

What we learned

We learned that building thoughtful products requires as much attention to behavior design as technical design. Small choices — like removing usernames or limiting discussion windows — can dramatically change how people engage. We also gained hands-on experience integrating AI in a meaningful, non-gimmicky way.

What's next for Perspectia

Next, we plan to improve summary quality, introduce better topic curation, and explore ways to help users reflect on how their thinking evolves over time. Perspectia will continue to focus on clarity, not virality.
