🙌 Persona Prep – Sales Research in Seconds, Conversations That Connect
🧠 Inspiration
Over the last 5–6 years, I’ve sat through hundreds of sales meetings as a product manager working closely with sales teams. One thing became crystal clear:
Great salespeople don’t just sell — they connect.
The best ones know who they’re speaking to. They build a rapport. They talk about movies, sports, or even the city you live in. And suddenly, the conversation becomes less transactional and more human.
But getting that context takes time. Salespeople spend 30–60 minutes researching each prospect. What if that prep could be done in seconds?
That’s why I built Persona Prep — to automate empathy and insight for every sales conversation.
💡 What It Does
Persona Prep takes a LinkedIn profile URL and transforms it into a sales-ready brief with both individual and company insights:
👤 Individual Insights
- Profile Overview
- Personality Traits
- Conversation Tone Guidance
- Rapport-building Guidance
- Work-Related Talking Points
- Small Talk Ideas (non-work)
- Smart Questions to Ask
🏢 Company Insights
- Company Description (Industry, HQ, Size)
- Latest News
- Summary of 5 Most Popular LinkedIn Posts
- Summary of 5 Most Recent LinkedIn Posts
Think of it like a cheat sheet before every sales call — built for human-first conversations.
⚙️ How I Built It
I'm a product manager and haven't coded for a few years, so I — amateur vibe-coded my way through. Every bit of the project pushed me outside my comfort zone.
🛠️ Tech Stack
- 🔧 Builder: 100% built on Bolt
- 🧪 Backend: Supabase with Edge Functions
- 🎨 Frontend: React, Vite, Tailwind CSS
- 📬 Auth & Emails: Brevo
- 💰 Payments: DodoPayments (supports USD for Indian creators)
- 📊 Analytics: Posthog
- 🤖 AI/LLM: OpenAI (for tone, personality, and insight extraction)
- 🚀 Deployment: Netlify + GoDaddy
📚 What I Learned
This project was an intense crash course in full-stack building:
- Bridging frontend ↔ backend flows
- Setting up user auth (SSO + email verification)
- Setting up strong security features for vibe-coded apps
- Building pricing tiers and payment gateways
- Prompting GPT effectively for different tones, personalities, and insight quality
- Handling deployment and domain management
- Learning the real-world research process of salespeople in detail
I also learned that while no-code platforms like Bolt abstract a lot, true product-thinking still matters - what’s valuable, what’s usable, and what makes someone smile when they use your tool.
🧗♂️ Challenges I Faced
1. Incomplete LinkedIn Profiles = Weak Insights
Not every user is active on LinkedIn. That made certain profiles hard to pull meaningful insights from. I tried analyzing reposts, likes, and comment behavior to enrich the data, but balancing signal vs. noise was tough.
2. Payment Integration for Indian Creators in USD
Stripe doesn’t support Indian individuals collecting in dollars. Razorpay doesn’t either. Eventually found and integrated Dodopayments, which solved for this specific use case.
🌱 Final Reflection
Persona Prep isn’t just a product - it’s a philosophy:
Sales is human. Insight helps, but empathy wins.
What started as a problem I noticed in meetings became a product I built end-to-end. I hope this tool empowers salespeople to walk into every call feeling prepared, confident, and most importantly — connected.
