Inspiration
So as a programing student at USU i've come to learn that every student should have a professional website. As I was missing one and have had several programing friends who struggle to do web development, I decided to help them out while helping myself by developing a personal site CMS where they can edit info without needing to code.
What it does
Currently it remains unfinsihed and only has a working front end template built in Bootstrap and implementing material design. This site seamlessly switches between mobile and desktop versions and looks beautiful anywhere.
How I built it
It was built using Twitter Bootstrap library, with a bootstrap-material library. It also uses font awesome to make everythign look amazing.
Challenges I ran into
I did have to scale down the design scope for this 12 hour hackathon due to lack of time, so today was a focus on the interface, and design with plans to extend and complete in the future.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
For a programer to get good design is difficult. I believe that I have truly created a easily customized beautiful template that will impress any prospective employers
What I learned
I learned how to properly implement material design in such a way that the site does not just look like a google clone, or awkward.
What's next for PersonalSite
I managed to get the scaffolding in place to provide a secure login, and began database integration to allow for a full admin interface behind the single page app allowing non-programers to easily upload the site to heroku and have a working, customized, professional site.
