Inspiration

The inspiration behind FitTV was to make fitness easier, more accessible, and more convenient at home. Many people struggle to maintain a regular workout routine because of busy schedules, a lack of gym access, or difficulty finding suitable exercises. I wanted to create a TV-based fitness application that helps users follow personalized workout routines on a larger screen.

What it does

FitTV is a personalized workout planner designed for Amazon Fire TV. It aims to help users explore exercises, follow workout routines, and maintain a consistent fitness schedule from the comfort of their homes. The application focuses on a simple, user-friendly interface that can be navigated using a TV remote.

How we built it

We developed FitTV with a focus on a simple user interface suitable for television screens. We used development tools such as Visual Studio Code to work on the project and prepared the application for testing in a Fire TV emulator. We organized the application structure and focused on making the workout experience easy to understand and navigate.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenges were setting up the Fire TV development environment, adapting the interface for a large screen, configuring the emulator, and testing the application without a physical Fire TV device. We worked through these challenges by troubleshooting configuration issues and testing the application on a computer.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to develop a fitness-focused project for Amazon Fire TV and explore how television technology can support home workouts. The project helped us turn an idea into an application concept and gain practical experience in software development and testing.

What we learned

We learned about TV application development, designing user-friendly interfaces for large screens, remote-control navigation, emulator configuration, debugging, and application testing. We also improved our problem-solving and project development skills.

What's next for Personalized workout planner

In the future, we plan to enhance FitTV with AI-powered personalized workout recommendations, exercise demonstration videos, user profiles, fitness progress tracking, workout reminders, and routines based on individual fitness goals. Our long-term vision is to make FitTV a smarter and more engaging home fitness companion.
