Inspiration

The idea of creating a personalized financial advice application using Generative Artificial Intelligence came from our own experience as users of financial services. We were always frustrated by the lack of transparency, personalization and accessibility of the options available in the market. We wanted to create a tool that would help us make better decisions about our money, based on goals, preferences and personal situation.

What it does

The Virtual Financial Advisor is able to generate recommendations tailored to each user for savings, investment and financial planning guidance, using natural language generation techniques.

How we built it

The project consisted of several phases: first, we collected and analyzed data on the financial behavior of some users, their needs and expectations. Then, we designed a coherent, relevant and persuasive text prompt about saving, investing and financial planning. Finally, we added some widgets to enhance the user interface and configured them to allow the user to interact with the Virtual Financial Advisor in a natural and fluid way.

Challenges we ran into

The project was not without its challenges and difficulties. One of the main ones was to ensure the quality, veracity and ethics of the recommendations generated by the Virtual Financial Advisor. To do so, we had to establish feedback and continuous improvement mechanisms in the design of the prompt. Another challenge was to ensure that the Virtual Financial Advisor was able to understand the context and profile of the user. To do this, we incorporated elements so that the responses would be personalized for the user and in the language of their country.

What we learned

We are proud to have created this application that has allowed us to enter the world of generative AI. It has been important to discover how to generate a prompt to suit what we were looking for, which is to help users improve their financial situation and achieve their goals. Finally, we discovered a great potential in this type of applications that do not require code for their creation, but we can do it through natural language.

Next steps

The next steps for the Virtual Financial Advisor are to expand its reach, functionality and impact. We also want the Virtual Financial Advisor to be more creative and able to generate financial advice not only based on data and algorithms, but also on stories, metaphors and emotions.
