Inspiration

Fatigue from repeatedly entering personal at multiple websites during sign-up, shopping, medical visit, travel and the likes of it.

What it does

Provides option for user to main their personal data at a single point. Independent of SSO providers.

How we built it

Self attested data (age, address, credit cards, loyalty cards), govt id numbers (SSN, DL), personal shipping preferences the id wallet. User owns the data and authorizes 3rd party providers' access to the data. This way, cross platform data can be stored at a single point and controlled by the user.

Challenges we ran into

Building a DID based single reference point for the personal data content. Tried Ceramic and Spruce, but implementing the tools and help available required slightly higher proficiency in coding that i have [business background, new to development].

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Learning solidity coding, building a bare bone JS/ HTML front end.

What we learned

Learning a lot about the topic of self-sovereign identity, how the space provides potential for users to control their personal data, monetize their personal data, behaviour data, preferences flipping the current model of multi-silos of data held by different large central data owners.

What's next for Personal id wallet

Beyond personally attested data, users can record cross platform activity - create a self controlled cookie, repository of personal travel preferences, purchase history, shopping orders, medical data, social media activity and other personally identifiable information. User will have ability to authorize or limit the use of one's own data central or any service provider via an authorization process - controlled by the user of the data
