The MediRec Personal Health Record ( PHR ) web site at www.medirec.us is a free-to-use, non-profit site that has an "Infectious Diseases" section / tab. The Flu record item in this section allows data entries ( it's the 2nd item down from the top of the Infectious Disease section), and this record contains a drop down selection of URLs that shows a selected site in place of the PHR. The list of Flu sites has several CDC sites, including the CDC Flu feed site listing many other Flu resource sites, and the CDC FluView site utilizing the weekly Flu Activity Report data. Several other prominent Influenza web sites can also be selected, including the Genentech FluFacts site, and the Wikipedia Flu site. To access the MediRec Flu information, it isn't necessary to set up a user account, as the default example account of the mythical user "Charles Guest" permits access to the Flu information in the same way that a real user has access. To use this application, go the site URL at www.medirec.us, and note that Internet Explorer browsers may show a popup message saying that you've logged in as user "Guest" - click "OK" to proceed. Click on the "Infectious Diseases" tab, go down to the "Flu" item, and click on the drop down box to select a site option. Selected sites appear in place of the PHR in the lower half of the screen, and you can return to the PHR with the browser "Back" button. A more extensive but less functional mockup site, currently without a database, is also available at www.medirec.org. The Flu entry can be accessed in a similar way to the database-backed prototype site at www.medirec.us. To see the mockup site, go to the URL at www.medirec.org, click on the "Medical History" tab, and then click the "Infectious Diseases" item, and you will see the same selection box of web sites as at www.medirec.us, under the Flu / Influenza item.
